Ultimate Skardu and Hunza Valley

Overview

This is an 11-day excursion through the most enchanting landscapes of northern Pakistan. Begin your journey from Islamabad and hop on a flight to Skardu. Explore the high-altitude Sarfaranga Desert, also known as the “Cold Desert,” and the hidden beauty of Blind Lake before settling into Shigar for the night. Day 3 takes you to Sok Valley, where you will revel in the charms of the Lower and Upper Kachura Lakes. We will embark from Skardu to Hunza on day 4 via a picturesque drive, stopping on the way to marvel at points where the giant mountain ranges of the world collide. Day 5 is dedicated to exploring the rich cultural heritage of Hunza Valley, including visits to Baltit Fort, Altit Fort, and Duiker viewpoint. We continue to explore upper Hunza on day 6 with visits to the sapphire-blue Attabad Lake, the daunting Hussaini suspension bridge, peaceful Gulmit village, mesmerizing Passu cones, and the tranquil Borith Lake. Immerse yourself in the dainty beauty of Hopper Village, perched beside the magnificent Hopper Glacier on day 7. We will start on our descent through lush green Naran on day 8 and return to Islamabad the next day. You will surely be transformed after soaking up the natural wonders of the North, as we rest and round off the unforgettable journey with a farewell Pakistani feast showcasing the capital city skyline from the Margalla Hills. On day 11, catch up on last minute souvenir shopping and architecture visits on the afternoon Islamabad city tour before departure at the airport. This itinerary promises the best combination of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and relaxation in the northern paradise of Pakistan.

Itinerary At Glance

  • Day 1: Fly in to Islamabad (International Flight).

  • Day 2: Fly to Skardu excursions of Sok Valley, Kachura Lake and overnight in Shigar Skardu.

  • Day 3: Drive to Astore via Deosai, overnight in Astore.

  • Day 4: Drive (6hrs) to Hunza Valley with stopovers at Great Mountain Ranges Collision Point, Rakaposhi Viewpoint.

  • Day 5: Cultural heritage tour of Baltit Fort and Altit Fort, Duiker Viewpoint, and souvenir shopping evening.

  • Day 6: Excursion of Attabad lake, Hussaini suspension bridge, Gulmit village, Passu cones, Borith lake and Passu glacier hike.

  • Day 7: Explore Hopper Village (2900m), Hopper Glacier, relaxing evening.

  • Day 8: Drive to Naran (6 hrs, 315 km), overnight in Naran.

  • Day 9: Drive to Islamabad (6 hrs, 250 km).

  • Day 10: Rest day and dinner at Maragalla Hills with Islamabad night view.

  • Day 11: Mid-day hotel checkout, lunch, afternoon city excursion and drop at Islamabad airport for international flight.

    Tips for the guides and drivers

    Notes For the Trip

    1. Average Drive-in driving sections 5hrs, maximum 7hrs per day.

    2. You need to bring: good shoes, light rain-proof jacket, multiple layers of warm and early summer clothes as you will be going in different terrains and weather condition regions during this trip, backpack for carrying your own water and personal belongings and water flask.

    3. Road conditions vary in this part of the mountains. This may result in longer travel times. In case of unavoidable road blockage that prevents travel, we will be responsible for managing your lodging and food during this extra time. However, you will need to cover the expenses for the extra days.

    4. In case of domestic flight cancellations, you will be facilitated with a backup road travel plan with no extra costs.

    5. You are advised to obtain a health insurance from your home country that covers your health costs in case you face any emergency situation.

    6. Any additional services beyond the itinerary or possible changes during the tour will incur extra charges, and these changes should be discussed with the guide beforehand.
