Kunyang Chis Climbing Expedition
Overview
Kunyang Chhish, standing at 7,852 meters, is a prominent peak in Pakistan’s Hispar Muztagh subrange of the Karakoram and ranks as the 21st highest mountain in the world. Known for its challenging ascent, this towering peak lies along the northern edge of the Hispar Glacier and is the source of the Yazghil Glacier, which flows into Shimshal Valley. With five notable summits, including Kunyang Chhish Main and Pyramid Peak, Kunyang Chhish offers climbers rugged terrain and an unforgettable high-altitude experience in Gilgit-Baltistan. The peak is often considered one of the most difficult climbs after K2, with exposed rock faces shaped by intense glacial erosion. Towering 4,000 meters above its southern base camp and over 5,500 meters above the Hunza Valley, Kunyang Chhish is exposed to powerful jet stream winds and rapid weather shifts, making it a coveted challenge for serious alpinists.
