Colors Of the North

Overview

Northern Pakistan is home to spectacular mountains, and every season has its own charm. This itinerary is designed to showcase the vibrant autumn colors. Autumn brings out the earthy tones of orange, yellow, and red as the leaves of all the fruit and wild trees turn color, changing the mountains into a wonderful rainbow tapestry.  Embark on an unforgettable 11-day foliage excursion through the picturesque high mountain valleys of northern Pakistan. Begin your journey from Islamabad and hop on a flight to Skardu. Explore the high-altitude Sarfaranga Desert and the hidden beauty of Blind Lake before settling into Shigar for the night. Feel the magic in the air at Sok Valley, where the Lower and Upper Kachura Lakes mirror the surrounding peaks. On the fourth day, we will embark from Skardu to Hunza on a colorful scenic drive, stopping on the way to marvel at points where the Karakoram, Hindu Kush, and Himalayan ranges collide. Explore the rich cultural heritage of Baltit and Altit Forts in Hunza, with an eagle eye view of the valley in all shades of yellow and orange from the Duiker viewpoint. Take hearty breaths of the fresh mountain air as we explore upper Hunza with visits to the sapphire-blue Attabad Lake, the daunting Hussaini suspension bridge, peaceful Gulmit village, mesmerizing Passu cones, and the tranquil Borith Lake. Take a leisurely stroll through the serene landscapes of Hopper Village, where the mighty Hopper Glacier glistens. We will start our descent through picturesque Naran on day eight and return to Islamabad the next day. Soak up the splendid tapestry of the North, as we rest and round off the unforgettable journey with a farewell Pakistani feast showcasing the capital city skyline from the Margalla Hills. On day eleven, catch up on last minute souvenir shopping and architecture visits on the afternoon Islamabad city tour before departure at the airport. You will surely be transformed after immersing in the vibrant autumn colors and rich local cultures of Skardu and Hunza.
