K2 is the second-highest mountain (8,611m) in the world and trek to K2 Base Camp is one of the challenging 12-16 day just trek itself in the Karakoram range of Pakistan. Since this is a commercial route and many other offers are also available for you to choose, although if you still ask yourself why choose Magpie Tours? Our answer would be simple, that other than we are only a local team who live, work and travel on the routes, we focus only on small groups, responsible travel and personalized experiences and not mass tourism. This route requires safety at first for which we have careful selection of local guides, local staff and support for local communities.
It is physically demanding involving high altitude and trek along the 65 km Baltoro Glacier making a total round trek of around 135km. In the multiple days of this challenging Baltoro trek it offers trekkers unparalleled views of Masherbrum, Trango Towers and Concordia all providing 360-degree panorama of the highest peaks. The journey begins with a scenic mountain flight to Skardu from Islamabad and followed by at least two days of preparation and acclimatization around Skardu. Following the famous Baltoro glacier route trekkers camp by at famous camping sites with a rest and acclimatization day at Urdukas camping site. The trail leads to Concordia (4500m) also know as “Throne Room OF Mountain Gods” surrounded by four of the eight-thousand-meter peaks K2, Broad Peak, G1 and G2 and many seven-thousand-meter peaks. From Concordia trekkers continue to Broad Peak base camp and onward to K2 base camp (5’150m) the ultimate goal to stand beneath south face for an unforgettable life time moment for trekkers.
The journey after return to Skardu goes beyond Skardu into Hunza valley for a resting and physically relaxing moment and cultural experience in Hunza valley. This high-altitude trek is for Physically and mentally prepared serious trekkers to experience true and real adventure of a life time with professional logistic support, with the greatest and closest views of world’s tallest mountains.
